The easiest way to reach Tiveden National Park is by car, but you can also get here by public transport, or enter the park on foot, by bicycle or on horseback.
The national park lies between the large lakes Vättern and Vänern, on the border between the provinces of Västergötland and Närke. The nearest towns are Laxå, Karlsborg and Askersund.

Travelling by Car
You can easily reach Tiveden National Park from the south via Road 49 between Karlsborg and Askersund. From Karlsborg the distance is about 27 km. From Askersund it is about 33 km. There are signs directing you to to Tiveden National Park.
You can also follow signs from Askersund in the northeast and from the E20 motorway near Finnerödja and Laxå in the northwest.
Parking
At the Main Entrance, located in the centre of the national park, you’ll find parking, toilets, visitor information and an exhibition. Most of the park’s hiking trails start from here.
Another parking area is located in the northwest, next to Vitsand by the lake Trehörningen.
Travelling by Public Transport
You can reach the national park by bus through Närtrafik, the on‑demand public transport service in Örebro County. You can find more information on their website.

By Bicycle or on Horseback
You can also experience Tiveden by bicycle or from horseback. Cycling and riding trails lead into the national park from the village of Tived, as well as from several farms and tourist accommodations around the park. You can also walk into the park along the long‑distance trail Bergslagsleden.
