Naturum Laponia

Stora Sjöfallet/Stuor Muorkke National Park is part of the Laponia World Heritage Site, and at the heart of the park you’ll find the visitor entre naturum Laponia.

Naturum Laponia is located on the Viedásnjárgga peninsula, overlooking Lake Láŋas. The building is specially designed to withstand strong mountain winds and to let snow gather naturally around its walls.

As the main visitor centre for the Laponia World Heritage Site, Naturum Laponia provides information about the area’s Sámi communities, national parks and nature reserves. Here, you can learn about life in Laponia, enjoy slide shows and exhibitions, walk nature trails, join guided tours, take part in children’s activities and listen to talks. You’ll also learn more about traditional Sámi knowledge and how people have lived in this Arctic landscape for generations.

Naturum Laponia is fully accessible, and the surrounding area includes trails adapted for visitors with disabilities. At the naturum, you can also get information about day trips and places to explore nearby.

The Laponia World Heritage Site also has several Laponia Entrances, separate visitor points with different themes.
