Purpose of the National Park: To preserve a representative and diverse marine and archipelago landscape in the Baltic Sea in a largely unchanged state.
Area: 25,300 hectares
Nature: Sea, shallow and deep soft‑bottom habitats, shallow and deep hard‑bottom habitats, islands and skerries, cleft‑valley terrain, sparse pine forests on rock outcrops, maritime deciduous forest
Landowner: Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket)
Manager: Länsstyrelsen Stockholm
Parts of the national park are also included in Natura 2000, the European Union’s network of protected natural areas.
