The main entrance to the park is located in Skájdde. This is an accessible visitor area with information boards, toilets and fire pits. The nearest town is Jokkmokk, and you reach Skájdde from there via the E45.
The road to the main entrance can sometimes be difficult to access due to heavy snowfall. It is also periodically closed during spring and early summer when the ground becomes soft and unstable.
Muddus/Muttos National Park is part of the Laponia World Heritage Site. For the latest updates on road conditions, accessibility and entrances, visit the Laponia website:

During winter, you can reach the park on skis across the open mires. You can park your car north of the park along the E45, between Porjus and Gällivare.
Reaching the eastern part of the national park
You can access the eastern part of Muddus/Muttos via Sárggavárre and Urtimjaur/Urdávrre, both located along the road towards Messaure/Miessávrre.
The roads to Sárggavárre and Urdávrre are ploughed in winter. From these entrances, you must continue into the national park without a car.
