At Kumpula on southern Sandskär, there is a dredged, sheltered harbour with information, overnight cabins, a rest cabin, a council cabin, dry toilets, a sauna, a firewood store, a fire pit and a tent site.
The harbour in the fishing village of Kumpula on the southern side of the island of Sandskär has a ramp for disembarking with pushchairs, wheelchairs and similar. A wide boardwalk leads to the rest cabin in the harbour, the overnight cabins, the sauna and the well. For more information about accessibility on the passenger boats, contact the tourist information office, which can direct you to the current boat operator.

The nature trail that runs across Sandskär is not adapted for accessibility. The trail is five kilometres long and partly built with a narrow boardwalk. Short sections are steep and have boardwalk steps. At Nordudden there is a small landing jetty, a tent area, fire pits, a firewood store and dry toilets. These are also not adapted for accessibility.
The Seasons in Haparanda Skärgård National Park
Summer is the period when the national park has the most visitors.
During summer (July–August), a passenger boat runs a few days a week. At other times, boat charters can be booked. Trips may be cancelled in bad weather, if winds are too strong to allow safe landing on Sandskär. In summer, especially in June–July, there can be many mosquitoes, so bring insect repellent.
In winter, you can reach the national park when there is solid ice cover on the Bothnian Bay. Snow usually settles as well, making it possible to travel by snowmobile or skis. Note that snowmobiling is not permitted inside the national park, except for cabin owners who may use the nearest route to reach their own cabin.
