The trail system in the national park is well developed, with 140 kilometres of marked trails and fifteen cabins where you can rest or stay overnight. The best time to hike in the area is June to September. For the rest of the year, the mountains are covered in snow, and you will need snowshoes or skis to get around.
Fulufjället also offers several unique natural attractions that you do not want to miss. Here you will find Sweden’s highest waterfall, measured by free fall height. And that is not the park’s only record holder. Fulufjället is also home to Old Tjikko, the world’s oldest known tree clone. This spruce has a root system that is an incredible 9,550 years old.
On the map, you can see the different trails and many of the attractions in the park. Rest areas and cabins are also marked.
Naturum
The visitor centre naturum Fulufjället is located at the park’s main entrance, the Njupeskär Entrance. Here, you can get hiking tips, explore exhibitions about Fulufjället and more.
