At the Sunnabron entrance, the paths are hard‑surfaced, wide and level, making it easy to get around with, for example, a wheelchair or a pushchair.
In Bjurkärr, along the Skogsslingan trail, there is a viewing platform with a ramp that allows wheelchairs and pushchairs to get closer to the water.
At the Trollberget entrance, the paths are also hard‑surfaced, wide and level to make it possible to get around with, for example, a wheelchair or a pushchair.
Seasons in Åsnen National Park
In spring, you can enjoy the fresh green colours as the beech leaves unfold. Listen to the sound of the birds—perhaps you will spot a stock dove.
In summer, it is perfect to take a day trip along one of the national park’s trails in the beech forest, with the feeling of walking under a canopy of beech leaves. Pause or finish your walk at one of the jetties that offer beautiful views over the lake and listen for the call of the black‑throated diver.
On an autumn day in September, you may find very unusual fungi on the ground, on trees or on dead wood in the national park. You may also see the beautiful coral tooth fungus.
If snow has arrived in Åsnen and the lake ice has frozen, it is possible to experience larger parts of the national park on foot. However, going out onto the ice requires knowledge of how to travel safely. Following the shoreline on the ice gives a wonderful sense of far‑reaching views. With luck, you may encounter large flocks of brambling.
