The main entrance to the national park is located at Nyvallen mountain pasture. Here you will find the small visitor centre Naturinformation Sonfjället, which is open from the end of June until the end of September.
Several of the park’s hiking trails start from Nyvallen, and there is also a rest area with a fire pit next to the car park.
During summer, you can reach Nyvallen by car from Hedeviken. From there, road signs direct you to the national park.
More ways to enter the national park
Sonfjället National Park has three additional entrances: Nysätern, Dalsvallen and Valmen.
Nysätern Entrance
Follow the road from Hede towards Råndalen, where you will see signs to the entrance. After about 18 kilometres, just before Nysätern mountain farm, you will find a car park, rest area and information board.
Both summer and winter trails start here, including the trail to Sododalen and the park’s only rest cabin.
Dalsvallen Entrance
The road between Linsell and Råndalen leads you to Dalsvallen. This is a good starting point for hikes into the national park all year round.
Valmen Entrance
You can reach Valmen from Hedeviken via Sörviken on Valmåvägen, about 17 kilometres. A summer trail starts from this entrance.
There is an accessible rest area with a shelter, fire pit and dry toilet.
Visiting the national park in winter
In winter, the easiest way to reach Sonfjället National Park is via the Nysätern Entrance. The road is ploughed, and the marked winter trail also begins here.
You can also enter the park from Dalsvallen, where winter trails start as well.
