The terrain in Skuleskogen is very hilly. Many of the hiking trails are therefore steep and demanding to walk. The trail between Entré Syd and Entré Nord along the coast is somewhat easier to walk and suitable if you prefer less hilly terrain, or if you are hiking with younger children.
All three entrances to the national park have certain accessibility adaptations. From the car parks at each entrance, wooden ramps lead to large information decks where there are also benches under a roof, and at Entré Väst and Entré Nord, also fire pits.
Near the entrances, there are also composting toilets adapted for wheelchair users.
Seasons in Skuleskogen National Park
During July and early August, there are very many visitors in Skuleskogen National Park. Car parks, especially at Entré Syd, can be full.
In May, June and from mid‑August, there are fewer visitors in the national park. In October, you are met by an incredible display of autumn colours in the park.
If you want to visit Skuleskogen in winter, February and March are good times. Keep in mind, however, that you need snowshoes or skis, as there can be a lot of snow in parts of the national park.
From November to January, the fewest visitors come to Skuleskogen. It can be a beautiful time to visit, but you need to be well prepared. Even without snow, it can be slippery, so use traction cleats on your boots and preferably hiking poles.
