Bårddetjåhkkå is one of Sarek’s 2,000‑metre peaks. From the summit, you have views of all the peaks in the Bårddemassivet and over Bårddejiegŋa, the largest glacier in Sarek.
On the way up towards the summit of Bårddetjåhkkå lies Hambergs observatorium, completed in 1911. Around the turn of the 1900s, the researcher Axel Hamberg came to what is now Sarek. He carried out meteorological measurements and studied bedrock, Quaternary geology and hydrology.
The valley Ráhpavuobme, known in Swedish as Rapadalen, is often called the “artery of Sarek”. The valley was carved wide and deep by the force of the inland ice, and today it holds everything from remarkable wildlife to ancient sacred places. In Ráhpavuobme/Rapadalen you’ll also find the mountain Nammásj.
On the border of Sarek lies the small mountain homestead Aktse. The Kungsleden trail passes through here, and from Aktse you can either hike up to the peak Skierffe or continue deeper into Sarek.
Álggavárre is part of the rich cultural heritage of the Laponia World Heritage Site. Here you will find an old chapel and remnants of historic mining. The area borders Padjelanta/Badjelánnda National Park, and the only way to reach it is by mountain hiking.
