Pieljekaise National Park

Pieljekaise National Park lies in the Arjeplog mountains, between the small communities of Jäkkvik and Adolfström. Far from major roads, the park is known for its untouched and wide‑stretching birch forests. These forests link the valleys to the open, treeless mountain plateau above.
The area is a refuge for many birds and predators. It has also been an important place for Sámi reindeer herding since ancient times.

The park’s highest mountain is Pieljekaise, rising 1,138 metres above sea level. It has given the national park its name.
