Activities and sights in the national park
Ängsö National Park is home to a species‑rich and varied cultural landscape shaped by traditional agriculture. Running north–south across the island is Långängen, a hay meadow with an abundance of wildflowers. Here you can see species such as majviva, rosettjungfrulin, kärrspira, gullviva and kungsängslilja.
The north‑western end of Långängen, at Norrudden, is the most popular and frequently visited place on Ängsö. In late May, the orchid Adam och Eva blooms in large numbers here, colouring the meadow in shades of red with touches of yellow.
The island also has woodland shaped by traditional land use. During the crofter era, the forests were used as grazing land and for small‑scale forestry.
During spring and early summer, you can join guided tours in Ängsö National Park. The park ranger meets visitors at the steam‑boat jetty on arrival and provides guided walks around the island.
